An Akron mother is being held in Summit County Jail following a traffic accident that injured her 1-year-old daughter who was not restrained in a child safety seat.
The mother, 20, is charged with child endangering, failure to control her vehicle, driving with a learner’s permit without supervision and for failing to restrain her daughter.
According to police, she lost control of vehicle and flipped on westbound Interstate 76 near the State Route 8 interchange early Saturday morning.
The child was thrown from the vehicle. She suffered a broken jaw and ribs and was treated at Akron Children’s Hospital. Following her hospitalization, the baby was turned over to Summit County Children’s Services.
