A plane crashed on the night of September 3 into Lake Erie, near Kelley’s Island in Ohio. The plane held a 46 year-old man and his two sons. When the plane crashed, one of the boys was able to escape and was rescued by Chuck Herndon, who was on the lake in his boat that night.

According to Herndon, the 7 year-old boy matter-of-factly stated, “‘My father and my brother were killed in a plane crash”, once he was pulled into the boat.

The boy’s father and 9-year-old brother were still missing Tuesday, a day after their single-engine plane went down around 9:30 p.m., said Chief Petty Officer Robert Lanier in Cleveland.

Local rescuers and divers searched the area where the plane the plane may have crashed, but nothing has been found. The names of the missing have not been released to the public.
